Black Rabbit (Netflix)

Step behind the velvet rope this September with Black Rabbit, a sleek and savage limited thriller landing on Netflix this month.

The series plunges into the chaotic depths of New York’s night scene, where brothers Jake (Jude Law), a charismatic restaurateur, and Vince (Jason Bateman), his estranged sibling, collide in a high-pressure showdown. When Vince waltzes back into Jake’s world, he drags danger, debt, and shattered histories in tow, threatening to consume everything Jake’s built.

Expect a gritty, character-driven ride that blends the emotional chaos of Succession with the culinary intensity of The Bear, served with a dark, addictive soundtrack and flashy New York visuals. Jason Bateman directs the first two episodes, with Laura Linney and others joining the helm thereafter.

Between the star power of Jude Law and Bateman, a standout supporting cast, including Oscar winner Troy Kotsur, and the high-stakes familial drama, Black Rabbit is shaping up to be a major fall binge.

Task (Crave)

An elite FBI task force faces off against a desperate suburban father in Task, HBO’s gritty new limited series from Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby. The seven-episode crime thriller explores justice, loyalty, and the fine line between protecting your family and destroying someone else’s.

Mark Ruffalo leads the cast as Tom Brandis, the weary but determined agent tasked with cracking a series of increasingly violent home invasions spreading through the Philadelphia suburbs. Across from him is Tom Pelphrey, playing Robbie, a working-class father with everything to lose and just enough conviction and criminal cunning to fight back.

Their collision forms the emotional and moral spine of Task, a show that trades procedural formulas for grounded tension and character depth. This isn’t just about good versus bad; it’s about what happens when both sides believe they’re doing the right thing.

Ingelsby brings his signature blend of blue-collar realism and slow-burning suspense, using the outskirts of Philly as a backdrop for both emotional and physical showdowns. The cast also includes Stephanie LaVie Owen, Sam Keeley, and Michael Hyatt, adding weight and texture to a story that builds steadily toward an inevitable reckoning.

Expect powerful performances, tightly wound scripts, and HBO’s usual production polish, plus a timely meditation on justice, desperation, and the choices we make under pressure.

Chad Powers (Disney+)

It’s September, and that means that football is back! If you’re jonesing for any and all things football between Sundays, get ready for a fall gridiron comedy with heart as Chad Powers debuts on September 30th, starring Glen Powell in a hilariously offbeat sports redemption tale.

Powell plays Russ Holliday, a hotshot college quarterback whose career imploded following bad behavior. Determined to return to the game, he disguises himself—prosthetics, accent, and all—as the affable walk-on Chad Powers, joining a struggling Southern football team.

Inspired by Eli Manning’s viral prank on Eli’s Places, the series is co-created and written by Powell alongside Michael Waldron (Loki), with executive production by the Mannings themselves.

You'll find Powell unrecognizable in character, complete with shaggy hair, a thin mustache, and prosthetic features, as part of a bold transformation he describes as honouring the original while making the role his own.

This half-hour comedy blends situational humor, sports drama, and identity hijinks, anchored by a talented ensemble including Steve Zahn, Toby Huss, Perry Mattfeld, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez, and Quentin Plair.

The Savant (Apple TV+)

Jessica Chastain takes the lead in this tightly-wound, psychologically complex thriller that’s inspired by true events—and it’s set to be one of Apple TV+’s most buzzed-about fall debuts.

In The Savant, Chastain plays a brilliant but mysterious undercover operative who infiltrates online extremist groups to stop domestic terror plots before they happen. Based on a viral 2019 Cosmopolitan article, the show mixes high-stakes suspense with a character-driven core that explores obsession, secrecy, and identity.

As the unnamed “savant,” Chastain’s character blends into chatrooms, forums, and encrypted apps, manipulating digital personas while trying to maintain her own increasingly fragile one. The line between hero and imposter starts to blur as the job pulls her deeper into the minds of the people she’s hunting.

The series is created by House of Cards writer Melissa James Gibson and directed by acclaimed documentarian Matthew Heineman (Cartel Land, The First Wave), who bring a sense of moral urgency and cinematic realism to every scene.

This is prestige espionage TV with a modern, digital edge—think Homeland meets Mr. Robot, with a chilling emphasis on the real-world threat of radicalization. Chastain, also a producer, delivers a layered performance that’s already earning awards chatter, and the series wastes no time getting under your skin.

Highest 2 Lowest (Apple TV+)

Spike Lee and Denzel Washington reunite for their fifth collaboration: a sleek crime thriller inspired by legendary director Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low. Having premiered in theatres in August before streaming on Apple TV+ on September 5th, the film transplants the moral crossroads of the original into the cutthroat world of music mogul politics in modern-day New York.

Washington stars as David King, a legendary music executive famed for having the "best ears in the business." When his son is mistakenly kidnapped instead of his driver’s, he faces a life-or-death ransom demand that throws him into an impossible moral dilemma: save the child, risk everything, or walk away.

As he weighs his values against his power, the tension is amplified by dual themes of class, integrity, and how far he's willing to go to protect what (or whom) he truly cares about.

With atmospheric visuals, a riveting performance from Washington, and standout turns from Jeffrey Wright, A$AP Rocky, and Ice Spice, Highest 2 Lowest is a thoughtful and stylish thriller sure to resonate long after the credits roll.
