No Good Deed (Netflix)

Prepare to be hooked by the sharp twists and dark humor of Netflix's latest series, "No Good Deed," created by the talented Liz Feldman, known for her hit series "Dead to Me." This series blends sharp humor with a tantalizingly sinister undercurrent, making it a must-watch this season.

Set against the backdrop of a highly coveted 1920s Spanish-style villa in one of Los Angeles's most desirable neighborhoods, "No Good Deed" features Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano as Lydia and Paul, a couple ensnared in their own web of secrets. The house they are trying to sell may appear perfect, but it harbors a potentially deadly secret that could unravel their lives.

As various families vie to purchase the villa—each believing that it will solve their unique set of problems—the series explores the ironic and often darkly funny ways in which a dream home can become a nightmare. Through Feldman's signature blend of biting humor and dramatic irony, "No Good Deed" peels back the layers of an idyllic community to reveal the complexities and absurdities of chasing the American Dream.

The show boasts a star-studded cast including Lisa Kudrow, Ray Romano, Linda Cardellini, and Luke Wilson, whose dynamic performances bring depth and vibrancy to this twisted tale. The meticulous set design and location choice authentically capture the vintage charm and allure of historic Los Angeles homes, making the setting a character in its own right.

However, Michael's world takes an unexpected turn when he receives news of his sister and brother-in-law's tragic accident, leaving their farm and four spirited nephews without guardians.

Dear Santa (Paramount Plus)

Get ready to jingle all the way with Paramount Plus's first original holiday film, "Dear Santa," starring the ever-entertaining Jack Black in a role that promises to add a twist to your seasonal cheer. Reuniting with the Farrelly brothers for the first time since the hit "Shallow Hal" in 2001, Black brings his unique comedic flair to an unexpectedly heartwarming tale of misdirected mail and mistaken identity.

"Dear Santa" follows the story of young Liam Turner, portrayed by the talented newcomer Robert Timothy Smith. As a lonely boy feeling the weight of the holiday season, Liam decides to pen a letter to Santa Claus, hoping for a friend. However, due to his charmingly poor spelling, the letter mistakenly finds its way not to Santa but to Satan, played by Jack Black in a delightfully wicked performance. Surprisingly, this version of Satan doesn't get much mail, especially not from children, and the misaddressed letter piques his curiosity.

Intrigued and amused, Satan decides to visit Liam, and offers him three wishes. This devilish gesture is not out of generosity but rather a cunning plan to claim Liam's soul.

This intriguing new show from Blumhouse Television, inspired by the audacious real-life heist of over $18 million worth of maple syrup from Quebec in 2012, promises a perfect blend of suspense and quirky humour.

"The Sticky" stars the formidable Margo Martindale as Ruth Landry, a hardened middle-aged maple syrup farmer whose livelihood is threatened by overreaching bureaucratic authorities. Faced with the potential destruction of everything she holds dear, Ruth does what any enterprising spirit caught in a sticky situation would do—she turns to crime. But she won't be going it alone; Ruth assembles an unlikely crew to pull off a daring heist against Quebec’s maple syrup surplus.

Joining Ruth in this high-stakes syrup caper is a hot-tempered Bostonian mobster, played with by Chris Diamantopoulos, and a mild-mannered French-Canadian security guard, portrayed by Guillaume Cyr, whose quiet demeanour belies a surprising knack for criminal undertakings. Together, this motley trio aims to execute a plan as intricate as it is bold, navigating unexpected twists and turns in their quest for liquid gold.

Adding to the high-caliber cast is Oscar and Emmy winner Jamie Lee Curtis, who not only guest stars in a pivotal role but also serves as an executive producer, lending her considerable talents to both sides of the camera.
