The Killer (Netflix)
Renowned filmmaker David Fincher, celebrated for his work in the realm of psychological thrillers, has consistently pushed the boundaries of the genre for three decades. Fincher has solidified his status as one of contemporary cinema’s foremost visionaries with a remarkable track record, including masterpieces like Fight Club, Se7en, Zodiac, and more. After nearly two decades stuck in development limbo, his latest creation, The Killer, is finally making its long-anticipated debut on Netflix, sending ripples of excitement through eager audiences.
Adapted from a graphic novel of the same name, the film chronicles the journey of the eponymous assassin, portrayed by Michael Fassbender, as he confronts an array of formidable challenges. His demeanour is unyielding and methodical as he relentlessly pursues his elusive prey across the globe. However, a profound transformation is set in motion as his conscience intervenes, forcing him to grapple with inner demons and crippling indecision, threatening to spell his ultimate demise.
This cinematic gem has already graced the screens of prestigious festivals in recent months, most notably at the 80th Venice International Film Festival, where it garnered a resounding seven-minute standing ovation.
The Killer will be available to stream on Netflix on November 10th.

Invincible (Amazon Prime)
In 2021, when it first premiered on Prime Video, Invincible emerged as a significant success of the year. This animated series, tailored for adult audiences with its intense violence, marked Robert Kirkman’s second comic book adaptation to conquer the small screen. While it may not have reached the monumental heights of The Walking Dead and its numerous spin-offs, Invincible carved out its own colossal fan base. The inaugural season’s popularity quickly secured a renewal for two more seasons, a testament to the show’s following.
Invincible chronicles the journey of Mark Grayson as he grapples with his newfound superpowers. As the offspring of Earth’s mightiest guardian, Omni-Man, Mark is expected to step into a similar role. Though he may not match his father’s prowess and endures his fair share of beatings, Mark’s true strength lies in his resilience and, of course, his invincibility. Season 1 of Invincible navigates Mark’s coming-of-age story while unveiling the shocking truth about his lineage and his father’s true nature. Season 2 promises to follow Mark as he picks up the pieces, offering more of the blood, violence, and bone-crunching action that captivated its viewers in the first season.
Dedicated fans have eagerly awaited new episodes, and the good news is that the gap between seasons will reportedly be shorter going forward, as confirmed by the series’ creator, Robert Kirkman.
The second season of Invincible is set to premiere its first episode on Prime Video on November 3rd, with subsequent episodes released weekly for the following three weeks. The second half of season 2 is expected to hit screens in early 2024.

A Murder at the End of the World (Disney Plus)
Who can resist the allure of a gripping murder mystery? From the creative duo of Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, the brilliant minds behind Netflix’s The OA comes an enthralling new atmospheric thriller that keeps you teetering on the edge of your seat.
The story revolves around Darby Hart, a Gen Z sleuth and tech-savvy hacker. She’s invited, along with eight other guests, to an exclusive retreat at a remote and breathtaking location by a reclusive billionaire, played by Clive Owen. However, when one of their fellow guests is discovered dead, Darby finds herself pitted against a web of conflicting interests and must employ her expertise to prove its murder before the killer strikes again.
Initially scheduled for an August release, this seven-episode murder mystery had to revise its premiere plans due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. This decision represents one of the first instances of a TV show, outside the usual fall schedule, postponing its debut in response to the issues affecting writers and actors. Although the writer’s strike has been resolved, negotiations with actors are still underway, preventing them from participating in press and promotional activities. This situation has posed a unique challenge for generating anticipation for an original show based on something other than pre-existing intellectual property.
Two episodes of Murder at the End of the World will be available to stream on November 14th, with a single episode debuting weekly.

Fingernails (Apple TV+)
Prepare to explore the depths of love in an entirely new way with Fingernails. Is there an accurate way to measure love? Is it in the heart’s flutter or the chemistry of the brain? Imagine if you could scientifically quantify romance with a simple procedure – a test that could definitively determine whether your love is true. Apple’s latest flick, Fingernails, delves into this thought-provoking question within the framework of a sci-fi romance.
In this intriguing film, scientists unveil a groundbreaking test designed to reveal the authenticity of love between couples. It all begins with a tiny snippet of a fingernail, painstakingly plucked from the nail bed and placed into a machine reminiscent of a microwave. In just a matter of minutes, the device produces an analysis, rendering its verdict on whether a relationship is destined to stand the test of time or fated to crumble.
As director Christos Nikou brainstormed ideas for this captivating love test, he explored numerous concepts yet found himself inexplicably drawn to the idea of fingers. He observed that our digits have long been intertwined with the world of romance, from the swiping of dating apps to the symbolism of wedding rings. Surprisingly, there’s even a scientific connection between fingernail health and heart health, where the occasional white spot on nails can indicate underlying heart conditions.
Fingernails explores the fascinating dimensions of love and human connection in an age where science meets matters of the heart.
