The Out-Laws (Netflix)

We all know that family dynamics can sometimes be stressful, but what happens when your in-laws might just be The Out-Laws? Brace yourself for a hilarious adventure as Adam Devine (The Righteous Gemstones) tackles an unimaginable dilemma in comedy caper.

In this rollicking action comedy, Owen Browning (Adam Devine), a dedicated and rule-abiding bank manager, is on the verge of marrying the woman of his dreams, Parker (Nina Dobrev). However, their wedding week takes an unexpected turn when the notorious Ghost Bandits target Owen’s bank. Coincidentally, Owen’s future in-laws, portrayed by Pierce Brosnan and Ellen Barkin, arrive in town just as the heist occurs. Suspicion arises, leading Owen to believe that his soon-to-be family members might be the infamous outlaws themselves.

The Out-Laws marks Adam Devine’s triumphant third collaboration with Netflix, following the uproarious hits Game Over, Man! and When We First Met. But the connection goes beyond the screen as Devine and the talented Nina Dobrev (Love Hard), who share a genuine friendship, reunite once again.

Their on-screen magic was first witnessed in 2015’s The Final Girls and an unforgettable episode of Devine’s Workaholics. Their natural chemistry ignites the screen in The Out-Laws, creating a dynamic and electric partnership that will leave audiences in stitches.

The Out-Laws will be available on Netflix on July 7th.

After spending 16 years in prison, Dolores Roach is finally released and finds herself in a gentrified Washington Heights. Reconnecting with an old friend and fellow cannabis enthusiast named Luis, she is given the opportunity to live and work as a masseuse in the basement of his empanada shop. However, Dolores’ newfound stability is quickly jeopardized, leading her to resort to shocking measures to survive.

Initially conceived as a one-woman play called Empanada Loca, Aaron Mark serves as the creator, writer, and director of both the original podcast and the pilot script.

American Born Chinese (Disney Plus)

In a departure from the seemingly constant stream of Marvel and Star Wars content, Disney has a hit on their hands thanks to a graphic novel that adapted the Chinese literary classic Journey to the West. American Born Chinese has captivated critics and general audiences with its immensely charismatic protagonist and celebration of Chinese culture.

American Born Chinese follows the journey of teenager Jin Wang, a typical high school kid grappling with his identity as a son of Taiwanese immigrants. When exchange student Wei-Chen arrives, Jin’s self-doubt is amplified by Wei-Chen’s confident and outgoing nature. Little does Jin know, Wei-Chen is the son of the legendary Monkey King, a legendary figure in Chinese literature. He believes Jin is the ordinary teenager destined to help him find a mythical scroll. Now, disguised as a high schooler, Wei-Chen embarks on a quest through California, convinced that Jin is the chosen one from his prophetic dream.

Gene Luen Yang wrote the graphic novel that the series is based on. It resonated with Asian American millennials upon its publication in 2006, becoming a landmark in literature. Hollywood took notice in 2007, initially driven by the desire to promote Chinese themes ahead of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. However, the lack of appetite for Asian American protagonists hindered its adaptation. Eventually, Yang connected with Fresh Off the Boat producer Melvin Mar and Bobs Burgers producer Kelvin Yu, who offered fresh ideas to expand the story and engage a new generation.

The entire first season of American Born Chinese is currently available on Disney Plus.
